After years of bemoaning the endless litany of superhero and fantasy movies and TV series that seemed to have taken over the pop culture landscape forever; recent events may have proven that even the Marvel Comics Universe, DC Comics and Star Wars franchises eventually run out of steam.
Even the multiverse, with its pliable timelines and infinite possibilities for the interconnection of characters and story elements, hasn’t been able to overcome the recent failures of the superhero fantasy genre. Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, a film about a lesser character in the Marvel Comics Universe, was predictably panned by critics and surprisingly unsuccessful with audiences when it was released earlier in 2024...
